In 2020, 10-year-old Yike made a powerful first impression on The Voice Kids Germany, turning his Blind Audition into a viral moment. Walking onto the stage with a guitar in hand, he chose to perform “Un Poco Loco” from Disney’s Coco, instantly setting an upbeat, joyful tone filled with energy and personality.
From the opening seconds, it was clear this was not an ordinary audition. Yike confidently sang while playing the guitar, effortlessly handling the rhythm and dynamic changes of the song. His natural stage presence, musical intuition, and contagious enthusiasm immediately drew in both the audience and the judges.
The coaches reacted almost instantly, with all four chairs turning around. That season’s panel featured Lena Meyer-Landrut, Sasha, Max Giesinger, and the duo Deine Freunde. After hearing each coach’s pitch, Yike made his decision and chose to join Team Lena.
The performance quickly spread far beyond Germany, gaining international attention. The video surpassed three million views in a short time and was even featured in Chinese media outlets. Viewers were especially intrigued by Yike’s background, as he had moved from Beijing to Germany just two years before appearing on the show, making his journey even more inspiring.
After the Blind Auditions, Yike continued his path on the show and advanced to the Battles round. There, he surprised audiences once again by performing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables alongside teammates Enno and Nikolas. This emotional performance revealed a different side of his artistry, highlighting his vocal depth and emotional maturity and solidifying his place as one of the most memorable contestants of the season.
